1960 impala dash

The 1959 chevy impala dash is identical. Chevy seemed to like following a 2 year pattern for identical dash layouts. 59-60, 61-62, 63-64. Not sure if 65-66 are the same but I know 67-68 are not. Original AM radio always stays! The worst thing you can do to a vintage car is put a new radio in place of the original! (thats next to changing the original wheels, I like old cars totally stock)
That looks really good...did you have to refurbish the car or was it in this condition when you got it?
Your comment about dash layouts reminded me about vehicles that have probably had the longest-lived dash layouts: Ford F-600/F-700 trucks...same from about '80-95. Ford school bus chassis...same from '69-95, Chevy/GMC School bus...very similar from 65-90 or so. It is interesting to see very old-style dash designs in late-year commercial vehicles.

The car is totally original. Its been in a storage building in Frankfort, IL since 1981 untouched. Thats as much history as I know. Figure, the car was 21 years old when it went into storage, if taken care of, a car can still look new for that age. I see it all the time around here. You'll see a 1983 oldmobile delta 88 in great shape still driving everyday. Still see lots of early 80's GM cars on the road in chicago in relativly good shape. Thats how I compare, hopefully it makes sense.
As for the truck designs, I agree, its neat to see a 30 year old dash layout in a newer commercial vehicle. Youve probably seen the Ford "citycab" trucks. Youd see them as street sweepers, dump trucks etc. They were the exact same design both interior and exterior from 1959-1986. If you are lucky, you might see one every so often.
