Rob's living room system
Today I finished throwing an audio rack together for the 'watching TV room*' so I could make some sense of all the audio equipment I've added recently. It still needs the shelves painted but I needed to press it into service ASAP, so now I may paint it with a brush while the equipment is on it!
I listened to vinyl for the first time in the living room this evening, now that I have a spot to put a turntable! I'm going to enjoy this.
As soon as I get the proper stylus for my cartridge I'll be all set.
Here's the whole setup presently. My homemade rear horns are running off the two recently acquired Eico HF-20 tube amps and likewise newly acquired vintage Mitsubishi preamp. I like the relationship that has formed between these speakers and those monoblocks! The midrange to highs is much more exciting than from using these speakers on the Pioneer SS amp, even though that sounded good. I can feed them with turntable, FM/AM tuner, cassette deck or Laser player (CD's). I have yet to modify/upgrade these Eico tube amps so I'm expecting even more magic when I do.
The Bozaks are on the Pioneer SA-7700 amp at the bottom of the rack which can run from TV stereo sound, laser disc, DVD player or also the FM/AM tuner. I bring prototype speakers I build in and out of this room as part of my R&D and testing, so this whole setup is subject to change with time.
Note the two sheets of 1" rockwool against the wall...it helps. I still need corner bass traps.
