My little slice of joy
Constructive comments wanted!
System includes the following:
Krell 150A Amp: 150 watts @ 8 ohms, 300 watts @ 4 ohms.
Krell 250P Pre-Amp: Very transparent
Cary 303/200 CD Player: Totally AWESOME especially in 96 kHz/24 Bit mode or in HDCD
Vienna Acoustic Bachs: The Mid range is totally intoxicating! I also LOVE the silk dome tweeters!!!! Base response is very good although I'm planning to put the Bachs on granite slabs. The speakers are 1 ft from the back wall, filled with sand and are fully raked. They are also 7 ft apart and toed in.
I'm Running AudioQuest Viper XLRS throughout so my system is fully balanced from top to bottom. The difference between XLRs and regular RCA connectors is unbelievable!!
The Rack is made by Sonus and my plans are to veneer the shelves with a cherry wood.
As far as Adcom ACE 515 line enhancer; this is used for the TV and DVD player only. I didn't hear any improvement with audio gear like I did with the TV and DVD player.
Yea' thats a Road Runner on top of the T.V. I'm quite fond of them.
Future plans:
I will be purchasing a plasma screen in the next couple of months. I know, the T.V. has no place in my system right now.
Why I love this system:
I have a relatively small listening area and the Bachs are just right. The high end is very smooth and as mentioned earlier, the midrange is the best I've ever heard. The Bachs have two drivers; 7" midrange and a Silk Dome tweeter and the speakers are ported in the back. I feel that the Krells are a perfect match with these Bachs. Krell has always been known for bass and I feel as though the bass is controlled and tight. In short, the Bachs are laid back and the Krells are a bit forward; put togeather they make great music! Using XLRs throughout is such a hugh improvement over RCAs. I was amazed when I made the change. No, I'm not talking about the 6 db pickup either! The depth and soundstage improvements where phenominal!
In all honesty, I'm not sure where I would go from here to make any noticible improvements???
Just wanted to share my system. It's not the most expensive nor is it the best around, [b][u]but I really ENJOY it!!![b/][u/]
