My room is on the large side being more than 6000 cu ft (33'x18'-28'x9'). When the protective grills are in place you really cannot tell what's there for speakers and such. The whole protective contraption is wood and steel frames covered with acoustic fabric to be as acoustically invisible as possible yet still be strong. It has worked very well for about five years now. I don't use the room lanses anymore though they were effective.
