    Design Acoustics PS-10 Speakers

Your black grills look to match the pair that I have. Are there supposed to be loose grommets that go on the posts and then get inserted into the holes on the speakers? I grabbed these "PS-10" grommets off ebay because the black grills wouldn't snugly fit into the speaker cabinet holes and...

The grills are black, and the speakers have the knob on the front. The posts on the grills seem fine, it's the separate grommets that seem to be the issue. They're just a tad oversized to fit in the holes in the speakers but no issue with the grommets capturing the posts on the grills.

Very cool! I've got both sets running now and liking them quite a bit. I tracked down 1 set of grills, but the grommets don't seem to match up well with the grills or holes in the cases. Wondering if you have any tips on the grills.

The bases were pretty grimy from the foam disintegrating directly on them: After a quick cleaning session with a mild mix of Simply Green: Just glued the surrounds to the frame on 3 of the 4. This is my first time ever messing with speakers, but found plenty of tips on this forum so I...

    Design Acoustics PS-10 Speakers

I have time. These require a lot of clean-up/repair. How I picked them up: Woofer surround foam completely disintegrated: Getting them cleaned up for new surrounds: Surrounds glued to cone (ignore the Aleen's, that was for a different project)

Thanks! I have very basic (probably less!) electrical DIY experience as well but if you have a meter, just do a youtube search for checking speaker resistance/continuity and watch a few videos. I watched a couple of re-foaming vids as well so I can get the woofers back in shape. I got some...

    Design Acoustics PS-10 Speakers

Was able to start taking them apart today, and do some continuity checks. As for the 3 speakers that had the muffled sound, the 1" tweeter in each of those registered no continuity. I've never done any speaker work so looking for any thoughts/suggestions on next steps with those. For reference...

Glad to find some threads here on the PS-10s. I picked up 4 of these (2 pair) via a FB Marketplace ad. Showed some wear but overall still looked decent. The foam around the woofers on all of them was completely gone so these will require the re-foam. Gave them all a trial run when I got home...

    Wood Glue as Vinyl Cleaner

I agree about the time/cost of the wood glue method being somewhat of a pain. All of my used stuff goes through the spin-clean, and now the only time I’ll wood glue after Spin-Cleaning is with albums where the water beads don’t run off the record quickly and even then I’ll only put the effort in...

Baby Technics saved from the landfill

Wow, nice work! My SL-D2 dustcover has a crack that looks just like that on the same hinge. Thanks for the tip on the keyhole. I never would have thought of doing that but it totally makes sense.
