On a japanese Trio KA-9300 (same power amp boards as kenwood model 600) i see R14 = 100 ohm
But on my another Trio KA-9300 i do see R 14 = 1K and 100ohm, parallel wired
Here is the Model 500/600/650 rebuild parts list version 2.0. This update has now vetted parts replacements for the Model 600/650 and includes additional information for various board versions.
I'll be leaving up version 1.4 for those that may still want it.

Edit: 10/30/19 - A few updates to inform about the newly available pdf files for the 2nd version preamp and voltage errors on the Model 500 schematic, now version 2.04

Hi Jeff. I haven't had a chance to restore my own yet. I've been been working on customer's 600s though. I'm going to make time for mine later this year and I'll do a thread on it, promise. Cheers.
Great thanks to @rjsalvi for providing these elusive supplementary documents attached below of the X08-1560-10 preamp board for the model 500/600/650. He already made an AK post to provide these, but I'm including them here as well for the added convenience of locating them. Thank you Robert, you're awesome!
@gort69 has also correctly pointed out, since the last update to this thread, that the voltages for Model 500 are incorrect on the schematic. It appears Kenwood merely copied them from the Model 600 schematic (which likely came first) without correcting for the different transformers used (remember there are two) in the Model 500.
He observed the following "So I removed the bottom cover on a 500 and measured. 42.5VAC transformer output and +/- 56VDC rails, and now I know." Thanks Al, you're spectacular.
The Parts List pdf file in post #84 will be updated to version 2.04 to reflect these updates. Cheers.

John actually noted the discrepancy in post #9 in this thread. It only took 3 1/2 years to get back to him - I've been very busy.
A second on the kudos to RJ for the 1560-10 PDFs - corrects one of the several flaws in the service manual.

I had my Kenwood 600 Supreme recapped by a shop that sells and restores vintage equipment recently. It wasn't that much was wrong, a little scratchiness on a couple controls, but I liked how it sounded so well I figured a total recap with very good quality caps would help it sound much better. I was wrong. Not that it sounds bad, and the scratchiness is all gone, but damn it. That magic it had before the restoration is also gone. I've let it burn in plenty but still, it's just another integrated amp now. The Pioneer SA 9900 sitting next to it was restored also and it sounds better than the 600 Supreme now. The Pioneer wasn't restored here on CO but was done by Terry Dewick back home in TN. Terry doesn't like messing with the Jap stuff, unless it's something with tubes so I'm not asking him again but I'm thinking about taking the 600 someplace else for another recap to see if that might bring that awesome sound back to it. Has anybody had a similar experience, with any kind of amp for that matter?

Can i ask, what brand(s) and models of caps were installed?
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a reputable service center in the NY are or thereabouts (due to shipping costs) that would check out my Kenwood Supreme 500 and change anything that needs to be changed. It still sounds amazing after all of these years but I want to be sure that nothing is failing or about to.
I also have several Settons in need of repair and would like some advice with those as well. I fear there is no one left that will take on the Settons though. Thanks.

@hopjohn thank you very much for a great thread and even better notes/doc... I recently just finished my Model 500 restoration (except for filter caps which are currently on the way) and your documentation made it so much easier, especially calling out the differences/errors in the original documentation

Thank you hopjohn. Just finished the power supply board and new power filter capacitors. Your detailed instruction and parts list made this easy.
Just a note on the Model 600 I did not have to lift the transformers out to replace the big filter caps. A right angle screwdriver and a socket extension was all I needed.

Hello, I am looking for an estimated cost for a qualified tech to restore a functioning, clean, unmolested all original Kenwood Model 500 Supreme in 2026.
If I buy the one I am looking at I want it restored so it is reliable for decades to come.

I own a lot of Laboratory Series Kenwood components and am a collector. I've seen your posts over the years and happy that you got the 500 Supreme. From what I've read, its the same as the 600 but 90-100 wats per channel and the 600 is 130 watts per channel at 8 Ohm. Please let me know how it compares to other Kenwood in your stable.
