  • Looking for some help in replacing the LPad on my Altec 800E 16ohm Crossover. If anyone has any good suggestions or a schematic on a good replacement, it would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

800e crossovers do not have an LPad. in the photo you have a selector switch which is wired to act like a Lpad (constant load on the input). I have no idea why you want to replace it but most likely you just need to clean the contacts. if you want to up grade the crossover replace the Caps. but don't change the capacitance.

Unfortunately, Jim, the selector's phenolic plate was brittle and cracked in several places and was not repairable, so cleaning it would not result in anything positive. So, being unable to find a replacement, a 16-ohm LPad from Parts Express was used.

I just checked in. in your shoes I would have done the same. I'm lucky in that there is a couple of old fashion electronic surplus stores near me. I can always find enough parts to rebuild a switch or a pot.
