Does anyone else on the forum use Bybee products in their System? Or for that matter even know they exist?

Just from the other thread where you listed them as part of your equipment. I wonder how many of us have systems where we could even tell if the Bybees were installed.

Ivan, a few of my friends use their products and swear by them. I have not had a chance to play around with them yet. What would you recommend as a "must try" from their line up?

I tried them and I don't hear any difference. I have one for AC filtering and another on analog out right at the RCA out.

My wallet felt the difference.:thumbsdn: I'd rather put the money on an RGPC product.

Bybee in my System

I have had Bybee products for over 10 years. I have found that the more revealing, accurate, or pushed a System is, the more it will benefit from adding Bybee products.

I would suggest doing Bybee upgrades last, especially once you are very familiar & comfortable with your System's sound.

Jack Bybee's work is based on sound Quantum Physics principles. Jack also had a hand in working closely with the US Navy, where he patented many technologies used in our Nuclear Subs today.

That being said, I would probably recommend his Quantum Force Speaker Purifiers first. I use them on the Amplifier end, rather than the speaker end. Since I run Shotgun Cables, it's only logical. These expensive Filters do perform, and rather quite well I may add. They add an additional presence, or liveliness to the sound stage. Additional accuracy, depth & placement can also be discerned.

Some may simply dismiss these entirely as "Snake Oil" I know my Video Tech did at first. Once he heard my finished System all the jokes stopped. The other Bybee products I use alot are the Quantum Force RCA & Balanced Filters. You will find them on every input leg of all my Amplifiers.

Once again, a certain Panache will prevail. Similar in it's benefits to the Speaker Purifiers. These Filters do amazing things to the fragile & un-amplified signal present at the input section.

Lastly, I use his AC Quantum Chargers; especially on my Video gear. Black Levels are just that "Black" as night! Shadow detail simply must be seen!

I have tried his power conditioning gear, but chose RGPC throughout. I also have his Coax Video Filters & some S-Video Filters here & there.

Overall, I truly beleive that these small but expensive tweaks gives my already over the top System, the extra edge that defies description & must be heard, seen & felt. Bybee gear is very difficult to find, and is often grabbed up quickly while holding its value as good as Mac.

One final word on Bybee Tweaks, once installed for a week or two just try & remove it! I already know you can't, because I have tried. They are real & do work! :thmbsp:

Between the appeal to authority, the glowing but vague endorsements, and the non-sensical product names, my BS detector is on super high alert.

Someone loan me a set for a couple weeks and I'll try it out - and promise to return them.

Barely worth a response...

But, judging by your current gear, I wouldn't expect you to be familiar with Bybee or it's benefits.

Whitehall, if you have no McIntosh gear, according to your posts, and you haven't tried the Bybees, why come into the McIntosh forum and bust others' chops over being open-minded enough to try something different? You're not bringing anything to the table, and, as has been pointed out, you are not being very respectful of others.

Thanks Ivan, I will be sure to try them the first chance I get. :thmbsp:

Serge,

I can even send you a set to play with, next time I go to my Storage Unit! :thmbsp:

Beat me to it again Ernie!:sigh:
I would suggest that if anybody has not experienced the McIntosh Refence
System to do so. I can go to my dealer start off with Adcom and move up the chain to the reference system. Man, what a difference!
Then realize that Masterlu not only has this sound, but it is probably 5 steps up beyond this. He knows what he is saying and I do not believe he enjoys snake oil enough to actually pay for it.
My 2 cents. :)

Carl,

Thanks for the compliment. I especially enjoy Audiokarma because I want to contribute & share as much as possible regarding all my years of experience & money spent on what works & what doesn't.

Personally, I must admit some of the things I have spent Big money on seemed insane at the time. But, as they say the "Proof is in the Pudding".

Simply put, I have been very fortunate to try more gear than many Professional reviewers in my own home. If it improved my Satisfaction Factor, "It Stays" if it flops "It Goes"

That all being said, Party on! :music:

With all due respect...

...IMO, Whitehall's skepticism is warranted albeit a bit blunt. The explanations on mfgrs web sites for how these things do what they're claimed to do is sorely lacking. "Scientific" principles are often cited but usually out of context. A good example is the earlier thread regarding power conditioners.

After looking over the RGPC web site, It's clear to me that whoever wrote that up totally misunderstands how inductors operate. He also has a complete misunderstanding on the nature of a short term pulse, the very thing the RGPC products are intended to manage. It's stated that short term pulses are characterized as being "DC based" and presumably a parallel inductor will shunt them to ground. The reality of the situation is the exact opposite: The shorter the pulse length and the greater the amplitude, the greater its HF content and the less the DC content. A parallel inductor will be electrically out of the circuit under these conditions. What the RGPC inductor MAY shunt to ground is DC offset on the power line but that possibility isn't even discussed. MOV operation description is also less than clear. Bottom line: not very confidence inspiring.

From my POV objects of desire like power line conditioners and cables (of all types) are the last frontier of user-involvement in the technical workings of high end audio that require no technical understanding. Anyone can participate and have an opinion. Therefore a healthy skepticism is a valid approach to these things. If one hears improvements with these devices, fine purchase and use them. I believe it's unrealistic to expect everyone to buy into the improvements esp when the mfgrs can't properly explain their products.

Mac forum credentials: I own and use lots of vintage Mac equipment although mostly tube (so maybe I'm immune to bad power;) ).

I have them installed in my modified Denon 3910 unit. I can't tell if they are helping or not, though I have read a lot about them and it seems to be based upon sound science. It was worth the nominal investment that I made...

Just thought I would chime in. Although I have enjoyed music for many years, I make no claims to have the experience and knowledge of those on this forum. The information supplied by Ivan and others on their experiences is very much appreciated. There are a lot of different variables that can affect one person's listening experience (where you live, quality of power, quality of the wiring in your house, what other appliances you and the neighbors use, and your own equipment). Having said this, there is a significant amount of white noise that comes from my speakers, along with some popping noise, and I'm going to start with some RGPC products and upgraded powercords.

FWIW, Parts Connexion, one of our sponsors does carry these products and there is a discount off list. You can click on their banner which is right under Audio Classics. I do not know their return policy so I suggest to ask them.
