Pioneer Project 60

As I recall, the Pioneer "Project" speakers were US-made (i.e., the cabinets)!

I have a pair of Pioneer Project 100A's in the basement. These were 3-ways with 12" (IIRC) woofers, dome MR's (similar in appearance to the dome tweeters above), and, oddly enough, 2.5" cone tweeters. They sounded good enough to me to keep them for refoaming. They've been waiting for several years...

are the grilles removeable? i asked about it on an auction to see if the surrounds were ok but he says they don't come off

They're a molded-plastic sort of thing with a layer of cloth (or flocking) applied. Yes, they should come off, although it may require some 'worrying'. The surrounds are almost certainly 1) foam and 2) bad. That's not a big deal, although it should certainly figure into the price!

well the guy wants $50 us for the pair and guarentees they are a.) cloth and b.) are in perfect shape and will never rot?

After getting a pair of $1,400.00 RBH Model 1216 12" 3-ways in MINTcondition for $40.00 at the Thrift Store I can assure that you can do much better for your $50.00. Wait until you find the right speakers. I sincerely can't recommend buying the "bottom of the line" anything when there is so much else available for the same cost.
