Good spacers for stacking gear?

I often want more circulation than the "feet" on the gear has. I have fashioned a few different quick fixes from stuff lying around and got to thinking that others had probably done the same thing. I poked around on AK and the web and couldn't find anything! (My keywords?) I figured I could cut wood, paint it black and put adhesive foam to dampen vibration/minimize wear. Well, before I get into all of that... Does anyone have a better idea?:scratch2:

Thanks!

I really really like those, but I wouldn't consider them cheap at $25 per unit. I'm still looking for other creative and inexpensive options but may just end up back at the Iso-pad! Thanks a ton!

This is an excellent question. I have used a number of things, but have found four-inch cork coasters to be the best, most gentle method. They can be purchased in a variety of thicknesses. I prefer the half-inch thickness. Here is where I get mine: http://www.widgetco.com

In fact, I use a number of cork items effectively for various audio purposes. Widget offers a nice selection.

Vibrapods are good, but be very careful as their polymer will almost certainly damage a finish. Placing a cork coaster beneath a Vibrapod is a nice trick, but I usually go for straight cork. In regard to isolation, I have found basic things to work as well or better than costly audiophile offerings. They can look nice, too.

Interesting you should mention hockey pucks... I have heard they work well. A friend of mine uses them, but he also likes the cork I recommended to him, too (see my post above). The cork also provides a nice gentle contact area, which is very helpful when stacking components.

Styrofoam cubes! I have many different thicknesses that I cut to size for whatever needs, they work awesome and can be painted any color also:)

Just a thought, but it seems like one of those rubber matts with holes for work floors would be ideal. They seem to be 3/4" thick on average. I wonder if one of those could be carved up with a ban saw into square pucks?

You know the bar mats that glasses and shakers are sitting on just behind the bar that are logoed with liquor brands? I get those for free from the reps/ distrubutors- they come in many sizes and cut be cut with scissors.

Awesome! Just awesome suggestions! This is perfect. I just KNEW there had to be people who have wanted to do the same thing!

Those bench cookies look like the trick. I usually cut 1 inch squares of 3/4 inch thick wood. But I might go with those bench cookies.

hockey pucks? I have often used pieces of cork like gt59.

HOCKEY PUCKS. I use these all the time. Cheap, effective, and decent enough looking. Perfect size most of the time, and offer good resonance blocking. Generic ones are $2 each.
