Toshiba SA-725 receiver. 25Wx2., Never serviced, never cleaned. Set up in an unheated garage. Used almost daily. Not even a bulb has burned out on this thing. Thats quality.

Sony STR-AV1070.

When not abused, quite a nice sounding amplifier.

Older Sony gear, like early seventies. Same with H/K.

Sanyo plus series separates. Who would've thought you could use Sanyo and quality in the same sentence?

RGR (Robert Grodinsky Research) preamps
Accuphase integrated amps, vintage
Klipsch KG4, Fraziers, and Epicure speakers
Sansui midline tuners
Sherwood tube amps
Craigslist turntables

You can have a very, very respectable system with patience, perseverance, and some luck. These are all great values, commonly show up in the usual places, and go for under a paycheck, in total.

Harman Kardon twin power recievers, Mitsubishi seperates, Kenwood integrateds, Sherwood, HH Scott SS stuff and speakers. There thats my 5 (but there are more)

Realistic STA 2100D. Probably one of the most underrated recievers of all time. Rated at 120WPC from the factory, another web site that sells electronics bench tested one of these at over 170 WPC. 4 TO-3 metal cased output transistors per channel. Decent size filter capacitors and a large power transformer. The reciever weighs in at right around 50 lbs. The one I have has been in my family for almost 30 years, has only been in the shop for service once in its life by me and needed an Amp adjustment and a couple of bulbs. I like them.

USA made and early Japanese made Sherwood equipment, early Solid State Sansui receivers, HH Scott early transistor equipment made up to 1973. 1967-1975 Sony amps, tuners, and receivers. Early transistor Fisher equipment.

my under the radar phillips 7800 what a shiny lil black receiver but has the juice to crank

70's Rotel separates. I have 3 and cannot believe how good they sound, when tuned to proper spec. The tuner is superb, integrated amp is full, rich and bottomless, and the preamp so smoothe, clear, clean..... and fully SS so it is easy to repair when (and if) anything goes wrong. Not likely.

#5 - Harman / Kardon Twin Powered receivers

#4 - Technics original SL-1600 and 1700 turntables

#3 - Early 1970's Realistic speakers and receivers

#2 - Nikko Alpha / Beta separates

#1 - The KLH Model Five loudspeaker
