Panasonic RE-7800C 8track/reciver and matching speakers, late 60s Still have it as my garage system. Vol is a little scratchy, and the 8 track stopped many years ago, but still works.

I have a nice little SX-424. It looks great, sounds great but I never use it.

First one

My first one was kind of slutty, a bit pudgy w nice yazoos, but it was dark, & we were both drunk........

Actually, my 1st receiver was a Sherwood 7100A also. Didn't Comsumer Reports give them a "Best Buy" back then?

Went back a year later & picked up some Altec Santana's to replace my homemade Utah Celesta 8" boxes.

Used to be a guy here in town that owned a high end store in KC & sold equipment out of his living room for kicks.

It was a piece of crap, actually...17 watts!

Don't let this fool ya fellas. The S-7100A is a fine sounding, and very well built little receiver. Way under the radar, still, and works well for smaller rooms and for background music.

Another plus is a fairly sensitive tuner and a decent phono section.

It may be crap to some, but to this Sherwood lover, it's a screaming bargain at the prices they can be purchased for.

YMMV. This model was my first SS receiver.

My first stereo was a Zenith Allegro system.
My first "real" stereo was the Pioneer SA-9100 & a JVC tt & CS-88A's, but I couldn't afford the tuner so returned the SA-9100 and got the TOTL SX-828 receiver, a powerful 54 wpc. Loved that system.

I purchased my first "system" in 1978 at 18. It was a Radio Shack all-in-one with a turntable and cassette deck with a tuner and speakers. I thought I had hit the big time! My first real receiver was a Pioneer SX-D5000 purchased in 1982. That was a substantial leap, to say the least.

Wow......back in the civil war days (circa 1974) I had:

A JVC Integrated Receiver @ 40 Watts (model # ???) and who cares!
OLD Fisher 3-way speakers and an AR TT, followed by an AKAI cassette deck/recorder

Come to think of it, I've never owned any tube products...............BUT someday!
