Here are pics of my new to me Sony STR-V7 receiver. I gotta say I really dig the sound of this unit. It has made me smile since I first plugged it in. The low end is incredible. I hooked up to the Altec 846B's in the main system and I had to turn off the loudness and dissable the tone curcuit to get the bass in control and I love huge bass and having the loudness on. :)

The wood sides are a bit rough but the wifes brother works at a custom woodworking place so I am gonna see if I can get a few pieces of solid mahogany or summin nice and redo the sides.

I'm still working on my overall impession but I'll post it up once I get it all sorted out.

Looks like I picked up some sort of spirit Sony fan on a few of these pics

Many thanks to member FerShure for the smooth easy deal on this unit.

In my opinion I got a steal on this unit. You can officially sign me into the vintage SONY fan club.

You gotta love Monster receivers! That thing is a beast! Congrats! I think some Sony gear is highly underrated. I sold an str-6065 to a member and I loved the way that receiver sounded. I thought it sounded every bit as warm as any Marantz I've heard. Nice! :thmbsp:

Second the warm sound of the early Sony gear.

I've had a piece or two crawl through. Good stuff. Got one for a friend, and I'm gonna hate to see it go.

Derek, I've tried to PM you- but your bx is full. Got something you might be interested in trading for....

A nice minty-looking receiver to drool over (but not into).
Thanks for the pics....................looks super btw!!

Traitor :D

Gotta love that big ol' torroid eh? Very nice receiver indeed. :thmbsp:

:)

It is very nice. Sounds as good or better than it looks.

Get ahold of me sometime Mitsu. I've tried contacting you several times but never heard back or maybe that's the plan :scratch2:

Look at the size of that cap (I'm a noob when it comes to vintage gear and I am assuming that big black bucket is a cap or is it a transformer??? :) )... either way... wow....!! :)

You are just slightly off. The P.S. caps are the two black cans in front of the one you mentioned. What you are talking about is the massive Torodial transformer.

I no longer have a contact number for you as they gave your cell number to someone else.

I've sent numerous PM's and a few emails since you been in the Lou but no replies.

Hey Rex

Nice pictures. I thought I'd never see her again :tears: it certainly looks like it survived the trip. Kudos to FedEx :thmbsp: I'm glad you're pleased with the transaction especially since this was my first deal with an AKer. You were a pleasure to deal with. Superfast payment and smooth transaction. I made the right choice offering this on the AK classifieds where it would be truly appeciated.

When I first saw this on a shelf from a distance I thought it was a first generation VCR. :headscrat: Then I noticed the power meters but once I saw the toroidal transformer I grabbed it and headed right to the cashier. Of course I only made it about twenty feet before I had to get a cart that thing is so dang heavy.

Thanks Rex and AK

Thomas

For the past month every time I go in to one of the local pawns here I glance at an STR- V2 sitting on the shelf and wish like hell it was a V7. Great purchase, she's a beauty! :thmbsp:
