New to me Sony STR-V7 Monster Receiver

You are just slightly off. The P.S. caps are the two black cans in front of the one you mentioned. What you are talking about is the massive Torodial transformer.

Gotcha... nice... I have seen the inside of a Pioneer SX-1250 and a SX-1980, so I'm assuming both of those have torodial xformers as well?

I no longer have a contact number for you as they gave your cell number to someone else.

I've sent numerous PM's and a few emails since you been in the Lou but no replies.

dude, I ain't avoidin' ya. I have no PM's from you and my email has obviously changed with the move. :smoke:

Ya gotta get rid of that avatar. I read your first sentence and had not scrolled down far enough for your photos and kept looking at her volume control and tuning knob. My wife is going to think I'm looking at 1 of THOSE sites.

The V7 is a beautiful unit. I kick myself for not picking 1 up a few years ago when I ran across it at the local flea market. At the time I had my hands full of something but, can not remember what it was now, oh yeah my JVC JR-S 301. I wanted to go back but the Mrs had other suggestions.

Sounds like you need a big Sansui G-9000 to soothe the BIG volume and tuner knob jones ya got :D
