Pics of amps with BIG honkin' VU Meters

Folks - my latest obsession is scoring a big SS amp with those huge, sexy VU meters on the front to cast a warm glow as I listen at night...

Okay - getting a litlle carried away here - but you get the point. More concerned with ease of acquisition then pure sonic fidelity - but I presume these puppies will be fairly solid performers. As ever - I'll be bargain hunting - bargains are relative things.

What should I be looking for and please inlcude pics!

Thanks,

RK

Man, I wish I new the model, but there was a really nice looking Sony ES Power Amp from about 1989 that had huge power meters and wood sides. One of the nicests Sony ES seperates I ever laid eyes on. Maybe someone around here can recall and post a picture. I think this thing was rated at like 150 or 200 watts a channel.

This is not my unit, but I do own one of 'em- the Denon POA 1500...

This is not my unit, but I do own two of these- the Denon POA 1500 II.... and they look way better in person...

A great AKer owned one of the following amps, in fab condition, and was selling it- I wish I wasn't afraid of buying this from Canada, but the nerves of mine worrying about it shipping from Canada (after a few mishaps from our shipping buddies up north) would have kept me up for weeks- the Sansui BA-2000...

And another I don't own, but like, the Soundcraftsmen 500-something... 5001 or 5002?

Looking for the pics but the Sansui BA-F1 not only has the big meters but is an outstanding amp as well.

That big Technics is very impressive looking in person. I have not heard it but judging from where I saw it it must be a very nice amp.

Love those Big Blues!

McIntosh MA6900.

I've also had the Denon POA 1500---One of the best, if not the best sounding amp I've ever owned.:thmbsp: The one I had went through a lot of bulbs though.

DBX BX-3. 600 watts of luscious goodness. Big, honkin' VU meters. Rosewood side panels.

I just sold mine.

The Hitachi 7500. Cool amber color, my nonexistent photographic skills don't do it justice.

Does the amound of meters count? 'cause our quadnatics may have a strong word here :D

Always been drawn to big meters like a moth to a flame. That is why I could not resist buying the Soundcraftsmen I have now. But, my goal is to end up with the Sansui BA-3000 someday. Just simply because I prefer that Sui sound. The MA5002 is no dog by any means, far from it, when it comes to sweet sounds.
