I just loaded my 5 disc laserdisc/cd player up with Prince.
What is your opinion on the guy, yey or ney?

I do not like everything he has done but he is a fantastic musician. I saw 2 of his shows in the 80s and they were both unbelievable. Him with The Revolution was TIGHT!

I like most of his stuff, and own a whole lot of it. Very talented and prolific. Also interesting to me is how he showcases other people's talents, newcomers and veterans, plus other new & old musical styles.

I like him. Has some of the best party music there is. Plus a couple good panty melters. Like, Damn you.

Agreed..........I don't think the man's made the same album twice. Kind of a David Bowie of sorts, IMHO

He's the true "King of Pop". His music is not my taste, but I have respect for him as a musician and entertainer.

He can wail on a guitar!:thmbsp:

I've got 4 or 6 of his albums.. Love the guy's music.. Purple Rain is in my eyes one of the best musical movies out there. Some real talent in that movie.. I also am a big fan of a lot of other musicians he has helped boot up...

I guess what turned me onto him so much was his first album, knowing he pretty much played and did the whole thing himself... that take real talent..

I have always been intrigued by him too.. he stays out of trouble, and is not a real freak show like Mikey is... always wondered what it must be like to be Prince.. or who ever he is this year..

Prince was one of those musicians that in the 80's I loved to hate, just not my style at all. He sure was popular but I never really got why.

Agreed. :thmbsp:

I was at the L.A. Colisuem show in the early 80's when Prince opened for the Rolling Stones and Prince got boo'd off the stage. There were a bunch of idiots at that concert. I like a lot of his music but he is a bit different. I couldn't believe that Kim Bassinger dated him, I was so jealous!

As has already been said, he is very talented, but kind of creepy.

I like SOME of this music very much, indeed, although some of it I don't care for. I respect his musical talent, and his flair for showmanship.

But I think the man appears to have a few serious issues psychologically, and with regard to his identity and sexuality. Some people would suggest that that goes hand in hand with great creativity, but I don't think it has to. It just does sometimes ... as in Prince's case. Gifted composer, arranger, guitarist and musician in general ... but a little weird as human beings go.

:thmbsp: Give Purple Rain Lp a listen. Then check out before and after LP's. Nice guitar work.

Only thing I can say is, saw him before anybody knew who he was in Mpls at The Zoo off Hennepin Ave. Morris Day and the Time were why we where there and this dude comes out and played with them on a couple of different instruments and I thought "This guy is gonna be someone like tommorrow:D"
