I'd say it was on the high side.....however, these are not plentiful. If they are for you, then step up. I regret selling the 2.3TL's I had. These are a unique speaker with a fairly warm and full sound.

Why is these folks always have to park a plant on them for the obligatory water ring though! :nono:

Best,

Paul :thmbsp:

Agggghhhhh....get that effin dog off the top of those speakers!!!

$2K isn't the highest I've seen those go for and they actually look to be in very nice shape. They also look like they've lived in nice surroundings, too. They've gone for upwards of $3K on the 'bay before so, for someone with local pickup, this might not be too bad. All depends on how bad someone wants them versus how much they might come down on the price.

I haven't really considered them but they do look nice. How do they sound, anyone have any experience with them. Are they going to be better than my 4430's?

Currently owning 4430's and having had the 2.3TL which is one step down from the 1.2's........

You are comparing apples and oranges. The 4430's have more impact, the 1.2's may get you a bit more midrange. I wouldn't sell one to own the other.

Best,

I had mine since 1984. Ran them with 3 B&K power amps (200w monoblocks & a 105w stereo amp for the top end). I sold them to appease my wife and because I live in a condo. But for me, they were and still are the nicest speakers I've ever heard. Depth and separation was extraordinary!

The ones in the CL ad appear to be 1.2TLs. That's probably about the nominal market price for them, but they're often available for much less, and often also go for more on eBay.

I have Chewy's pair of 1.2TLs. They're excellent speakers with about the "biggest" sound I've ever heard. I'd say they're a tad cold in the bass department, although they have an outstanding printed frequency range (+/- 3db 27-25,000.) I don't plan on parting with mine unless a pair of absurdly mammoth speakers fall into my lap, along with a place to put them.

That reminds me, the need for a large listening room is often overstated, but not for big SDA models. The soundstage won't develop properly unless they have a fairly large space to live in. They need to be flat against a long wall. I'm unable to provide this at the moment but they're still quite listenable until I can.

This has me curious, there was an ad for a pair of 1.2TLs plus a Yamaha amp on the same CL a couple weeks ago. For pennies, I think. I wonder if these are a flip of that.
