Lid up or Lid down?

Hello Folks,

Just for fun I thought I would pose this question.
When playing your TT do you leave the lid up or down? That is of course those who can keep the lid down when playing vinyl.

Just curious:scratch2:

Whatever you like. If you can hear a difference, I'm jealous, you have a hifi around the $500000 mark !

Down. Never really noticed the difference playing up or down. I keep it down to keep album and player free from dust.

9 times out of 10 I can't hear a difference either. I just think they're ugly and cumbersome. That 1 time out of 10 however the lid acts like a listening device for feedback if up, or is resting on the plinth bouncing along to the music when down.

I've owned some TT's where the dustcover was a feedback machine. On those, it stayed off. I bought a new dustcover for my Technics and it's made from a thick material with soft rubber bumpers. So far I haven't heard whether it being up or down made any difference.

I've done both ways when room permitted and couldn't see a down side to either way. But now both the turntables I'm using live in spaces where height is limited, so the dustcover is "off" when a record gets played.

However, in both cases there is a wood framed glass door that gets closed, so is that technically "down"? :scratch2:
