It looks like Beats will offer a phone app only/ ATT only subscription for $9.99

So where will YOU go for your streaming service?

"Will MOG shut down?
Yes. After April 15th, MOG will no longer be available in the US. Monthly billing will stop on March 15th and yearly subscriptions will be refunded on a prorated basis. Between now and then we will offer tools to help make your transition easier. Stay tuned for more information on those tools.

See for yourself. Download the app and hit play. "

It all depends on how vastly different Beats Music service is from the outgoing MOG.

Since Beats Music just started today, try it out. I wish I could, but it's not available where I am.

I will but the email I received does not mention the online service and makes it sound as though it will be ATT app only.

Hopefully Google releases the API for Google Music, then it finds it's way to Logitech Media Server, Sonos, etc.

You misread your email if it's the same one I read. The AT&T option is just a family plan option.

I remain hopeful BM will be as good as or better than MOG. Unfortunately, the web player isn't working yet.........

It appears that current MOG subscribers will have a one-month free trial of BM (per mogsupport.zendesk.com ). More information (from MOG) to follow they say.

[all this already in an ongoing thread - sorry for redundancy redundancy redundancy]

Thanks sincerely for your loyalty to MOG. It means everything to us that you stuck with us while we created the next generation of streaming music services, Beats Music, using the great foundation of the MOG team and product. As you may know, Beats purchased MOG more than a year ago because we too were in love with its fidelity, simplicity, and mobile capabilities. Our goal was to go a step beyond where MOG or any other service had gone, to be more than a server, to be of service to the listener. We wanted to build an app that helped us discover music the way we discover music, through trusted curators, but that uses computers for what they’re good at, personalizing an experience to bring the right song, right now.

The result is Beats Music, an app now available for iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, Web, and Sonos, an app that not only has all the on-demand subscription features you came to love in MOG but also more ways to find the right song to listen to right now than any other app on the planet. With Beats Music you should always be one hand and a maximum of five seconds away from something great to listen to without needing to think or type in a search box. If you’d like to search or build your own playlist, please do. But on those many moments when you’re looking for a quick fix, Beats Music delivers.

What's the deal with AT&T?
Exclusively with AT&T, you can get the Beats Music Family Plan with 5 accounts across 10 devices for $14.99/month and a 3 month trial. Individual Plans with AT&T will be $9.99/month with a one month trial.

Installed in Sonos. Oddly, it required me to install the Beats 'droid app, but is fully integrated in the Sonos UI. They must use hooks into the Beats app, which makes me wonder whether the streaming is to my tablet first, then to the Sonos controller. :scratch2: Hope not, that would be pretty lame...

It doesn't sound like MOG members will be merged over. That seems strange since more people would probably stay with the service if it was seamless.

If I am correct about needing to sign up, I am going to sign up this week for Beats and try it for free for a month. If I don't like it, I will cancel andl stay on MOG for a couple of months and try out some other services. For me, If Beats doesn't work out, will be between Spotify (which I have a free account) and Google Play (which I tried, but they did not have an iOS app at that time). I will probably end up on Spotify since they have a Desktop app and Google didn't (not sure if they have one now?).

Played for a while, looks like everything from MOG is still there. They've added some nice features, such as various sorting on an artist's discography, and thousands of playlists, which integrate right in to the search results.

Unlike Pandora, which you seed with an artist, they have pre-defined playlists for many, many types of music, periods, moods, etc. I like what I'm seeing so far. Genres you don't care for can be eliminated from the start, a really nice feature. Look forward to exploring some more.

I like your style as opposed to the "sky is falling" mentality.

I expect the transition to go almost, if not entirely, seamless.

This is positive news.

- Chicks, have you come across a search-by-label function?

Do they still have the radio slider thing that would allow you to choose one artist and add a wider variety as you pushed the slider to the other side?

"The result is Beats Music, an app now available for iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, Web, and Sonos,"

No dog in the discussion, but does this state that it is for internet access, or is "Web" now a term for a specific device (like WebTV used to be)?

There were playlists like "Ella - The Decca Years", but haven't come across that feature yet.

Had to go to, you know, WORK :D. Will play more later this evening.

I wonder if Beats will allow someone to make a 3rd party plugin for Logitech Media Server? I hope so.

It states that but there's no sign of it being a reality.
