I grabbed 'em-- there is some surface wear in the veneer of both cabinets, but the grilles and all drivers are in fine shape. Sound superb!

Good for you! You're really going to like them. I would plug those 1/4 inch jack holes, though. These are meant to be sealed enclosures for the passives to work properly.

Yeah I was thinking about that myself, and trying to decide whether to remove the jack plates and try to seal the holes, or just leave the jack plates and shove a cut off headphone jack or a wad of gum or something in there :D

I am planning on trying to refurb the cabinets anyway, so I guess I might as well go with the former option.

Any ideas on the best way to seal those?

Nice~! So darn efficient they will make a flea-watt amp fill the room with sound.

I ran across a pair a while back that required extensive rehab. It is documented here:

One thing than helps is if you have LOTS of room to work.

Good luck with your refurb! Look forward to your progress. :thmbsp:

WOW reverb your restoration turned out fantastic!!!
I am probably going to need your help/ advice with these. I stink with wood working/ restoring. I have attached some photos below. Unfortunately mine are the simple black oak finish, I LOVE the oiled walnut finish. Oh well for 200 clams I won't complain too much.
So on yours, did you bleach first? Then set out in sun to dry, then sand? Or did you alternate between bleaching/ sanding? As you can see from my photos these are pretty cosmetically challenged (especially the one in the last photo), I don't want to make them worse and do something that can't be fixed.
Also as you can see they were modded with 1/4" jacks (the guy I bought them from was using them as monitors... wish he had just cut and spliced the wires on the jack cable and used the regular connector terminals!)
Thanks for your input, again any help (from you or anyone else) would be very appreciated regarding my cabinet restoration attempt.

A few more photos showing more of the damage to the finish and the jack plate mods.
(You can see that the previous owner screwed these onto rolling caster platforms. I do prefer the original risers on these speakers, but this wasn't a bad idea!) :)
