Pioneer SX-737

It would fit right here in your list if you buy it 737,780, 828 & 980. Not being a smart A$$. Just placing it in it's place based on WPC.

Can't say about the price. But it looks descent for a 35 watter.:smoke:

And as some would say here, "hey, it's a Pioneer".

1974-76, the warmest sounding pioneer that I have. Mine has tuner problems most likely due for a recap at that age, might want to factor that in to the purchase price.

The 737 is a beautiful receiver.
I love mine.

AFAIK. It would fit in before the x80 line a just after the x2x line.
That is as far a lineage is concerned.

I like that particular line because of the finish and feel of the units, as a whole.
Built to last. IMO
Very sweet, indeed. :)

Plus, you can't beat the price if it's working and in any decent shape at all.

John

I had the blackfaced version, the SX-7730, which I sold to a fellow member here. It is a very healthy and underrated 35 WPC. Great tuner to boot.

$50 is more than fair, in good working order.

Have to let it go, darn

Lost track of time on our 3 week holiday trip and did not notice that some bills were not delivered. So have been hit with late fees and interest (normally pay off monthly). So for the next few days until I get it straightened out may be a little short on cash. Posted over to the SoCal craigslist thread hoping someone in the area may want/need it. Thanks for all the replies. Maybe better luck next time.

Urizen,

She's still up and running. I am a HUGE fan of the Pioneer SX-737, that euro version black faced 7730 just made it all come together, it is by far my favorite receiver!! I really like the lower wattage systems, as they sound superb at moderate volume levels. They don't have that extra kick when you're trying to annoy your nieghbors, but they get very loud and sound good doing it. I am endebted to you for letting that 7730 become part of my system. For some reason I find I like the sound from 7730/737, better than the higher wattage SX-838, or even the SX-1010. I don't really understand why, but the 636/737's seem to have a better bottom end, than the higher wattage models. The lower wattage of these models seems to scare people away from them, but one needs to give them a fair shot, and listen to them.

In my opinion, $50 is a decent deal, but I've seen them go cheaper. DM, If it's close enough for local pick-up, it's a pretty good deal. Who know's you could probably pick it for fourty bucks. It looks as though it's still available, you should really think about picking it up. Well enough of my rambling.
