    Akai 004X Turntable repeats and won't shut off.

    Hi: My Akai 004X Turntable, vintage 1970's was working fine until I oiled it. The TT decided to repeat and would not shut off. Is it a coincidence? Would it be worth while repairing it (estimate of $150-180 Cdn) or just spend a little more to get a working TT?
