044 tweeters w/out grills

How hard is it to replace the mesh grill of the 044 tweeter?

I wonder how it is that some of them lose their grill. I can't imagine that anyone would want to purposely remove it. Maybe they just fall out sometimes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I assume that the grill is simply meant to protect the dome, which all too often appears dinged when it's missing. But, apart from potential damage to the dome, the absence of the grill shouldn't affect the sonics, I expect — correct?

Its just a rubber o-ring that holds the grille in..very easy to replace..if you can find one.

Yes its just for protection as the dome is only about as thick as heavy duty foil...and more brittle.

I think the grill for the JBL 035Ti is the same size.

If you can find some blown up 035Ti tweeters, you might be able to swap the grills onto the 044s.

The only issue, is that the 044 grills were frequently silver color, while the 035s are black. But, better than no grill, I think....

Only if it’s on a set of L-96s, any other sets it won’t mess with the sound. For some odd reason If they fell off the L-96 it totally will ruin them. JK no it won’t mess with the sound.

they are hard to find replacements tho. Keep an eye out on eBay.
