$10,000 c-2301 pre-amp?

Hmm,

I can't believe the MSRP was $10,000. Maybe 10,000 Yen when it was new, but 10K USD is just a _bit_ steep for a preamp - although it is a beauty. Heck, the B-2301 matching power amp couldn't have been that much. If I just had my blue book with me...

My Sansui Dealer reference guide shows it at $2,400.00 list..........pricey but no where near 10K!

BTW: This auction got zapped, along with all his others thanks to BeatleFred notifying Ebay.

Good question! We don't have the original MSRP in the database so perhaps Stene can enlighten us. BTW, the one and only C-2301 to sell on eBay fetched $500.

Paul

The price in Japan for C-2301 was Yen 550.000
Dealer Price in Sweden (1986) $4.000 then he must have a markup of 30% and on top of that 25% Sales Tax. It will be the most expensive consumer model from Sansui I believe. B-2301 slightly lower in price.

I was stationed in Japan (Okinawa) from '81-84 and remember the Yen rate running between 220-250 to $1.......so I just looked it up and the average for 1985 was 238 Yen to $1. Thus that 550,000 Yen C-2301 = $2,310.00 which probably just confirms the $2,400 List price shown in my Sansui Dealer guide.

But, I don't know a damn thing about Sweden other than its COLD a lot!

ps: San Diego hit 84 Deg. today.........

Hmmmm, looks like the seller yanked it, not enough bids????

aaahhhhhhhhh.......no. Yanked by Ebay, if the seller ended it early...you would still see the auction and there would be a statement stating that the Seller ended it early! This auction is definately zapped by Ebay, and the Seller as well I presume.

i have access to Yahoo Japan stats where C-2301 had 8 completed auctions in 2004 and 2005. C-2301's average price was about 120,000 yen, or slightly over $1K.
