10" doped woofer ID

loquatious

village elder
here's a question for you vintage 70s infinity guys. can anyone ID which model these vintage infinity 10" doped woofers would have originally come from?

i'm not clear on what mid-70s models used a doped 10" other than the column II. but, this is not the correct doped woofer for the column II, (which is only doped over the voice coil and uses a basket with only four supports). the magnets do look similar to those on the column II.

there is a pair, and 26974 is the same on both, and would seem to be the model number. the lower number is apparently a serial number, as one speaker says 2857548 and the other 2857549.

any light anyone can shed is appreciated.

285 is Rola. I have a pair or 10" Rola's from some Sylvania speakers with the exact same basket and magnet structure, but the cone is different. I'm not sure which infinity they come from, but my guess is Column II.

rola does seem to check out, but as stated above, the speakers in question are not from column II.

the column II 10" doped woofer looks like this:

Why do you think they are from an Infinity speaker?

I've never seen a basket like that on a 70's Infinity although the two stage doping is reminiscent of how Infinity doped the Monitor CTS 12" woofer cones.

the guy who has them said they were pulled from from some mid 70s infinitys, but he couldn't remember what model. '75 date code puts them in the right period, and the 2-stage dope job seemed to bear the infinity pedigree out. trying to ID in case they are worth saving. i know the monitors had 12" and the wtlc had 8" but i'm at a loss for what models used a doped 10" (other than the column II).

Check out the infinity-classic site the POS I and POS II had a 10'' never seen one.... so that's all I can give as any possibility

the lit for the POS series says those 10" woofers used butyl rubber surrounds, and makes no mention of doped cones. however, this pic of some POS II makes it appear a correct ID has been made.

POS are not very desirable collector-wise, but we can file away the info that infinity did source some woofers from rola, if only for future reference.

many thanks for the help.
