100v to 120v rewind?

I've got a Sansui AU-D707X Decade which, being built for the Japanese market is designed to run at 100 volts. I've heard people say that they've run them for years without issues. The opposite ("you'll be sorry") as well. My plan has been to run it off a variac at 100v. Recently I've heard that you can get the transformers rewound for 120v. Has anyone done this? Cost? I'm in MA if you know a place. Thanks.

I'd probably try Heyboer for a re-wind. No clue on cost, but they can probably give you a better answer as to whether it can be done on this unit or not, along with a cost.

You might want to build this, an autoformer configured transformer. For your use, use a 24V transformer.

I have a Sansui AU-D607 that I've been running on 120 (that had been run that way for a long time previously) and it hasn't caused any issues. I had my tech check it out and not only was all well, but the operating temperatures were within spec for the amp as well. Output was surprisingly higher than expected, 120 w/ch vs. 75 as rated. I am going to pick up a variac and see if there is any difference in the sound, though.
