That is a GREAT recognition that music can touch the soul and resonate in a thousand different ways! Kudos to Campbell for opening the door for a 14 year old to have a little more joy in his life. :thmbsp:
 
I have to say, this story really made my morning. Griffin Black is a cool kid and Mike Campbell is a class act for treating Griffin so well.

Kudos to Mike Campbell and Tom Petty for being super decent people, and giving a young guitar player an evening he'll never forget. Love this story.
 
Brilliant! The kid wasn't the only one who benefitted here. Because he took just a little bit of his time, Mike himself came away with something too. Good lesson for all of us there.

I'll be seeing Petty tonite at "The Lube"*. I know of at least one other AK'er that'll be in the house. Anybody else?....Finnbow?...

If I could be transported to and from "The Lube" by a Star Trek transporter, I'd go. Short of that, it's a venue I avoid like the plague. I've only been twice, years ago, but the traffic/parking lot nightmares linger.

Enjoy it, Rob. His new album should help make this a better/more interesting show that it may have otherwise been. Enjoy and, if the urge hits you, post a quickie review tomorrow (if you arrive back in Annapolis by then:D). I hope the weather clears a bit for you.

You ain't over stating the case. The only thing as bad as the name would be the hassle of getting in & out of the place...
But what do we expect? It's a Live Nation venue, which is just a nice way of saying "Clear Channel".
 
Just checked concert dates - TP&HB are coming to Dallas, along with ZZTop, on Sept. 21. Tickets are high, but available. The Missus and I may go! Gotta clear the cost with her first.

I showed her the video of Griffin and Mike and she loved it! She's a big TP&HB fan, as well as the Traveling Wilburys.
 
This is the best story I've heard about a musician in a long time.It brought a tear as well.The power we All have to touch others is awesome! I like his writing ability as well,sushi....:thmbsp:
 
Very articulate 14 year old and a nicely written account of meeting a hero. Too often that meeting results in a disillusioned fan realizing the man scarcely compares to the myth. Seems those good old’ boys are a class act.
