1920's Silvertone Super De Luxe

Ok so I'm trying to repair an old silvertone super de luxe from the 20's that plays old 78's and I can't for the life of me get the platter off. Anyone know anything about them enough to help me out?

That's what I thought but there's nothing, and I can't get to the shaft internally because there's sheet metal that lines the speaker tunnel which blocks the shafts access internally...and I also can't get the crank pulled out so I can pull the whole thing apart so I'm stumped...I figured the crank would be able to pull out but I tried with no success.

1920s seems too early for what you are describing, maybe late 1930s-1940s?
A pic or two could help.
