I've just picked up a 1962 Fisher Futura III console.

Cabinet is the French Provincial.

Amplifier is the 660-A and the tuner/preamplifier is the 480-T. Multiplex is the MPX-70.

Came from the original owners home in New Jersey.

Here are some photographs.

If I was gonna get a Fisher console that would be the one I'd get..... Very nice!!!

I had my chance a guy in bartertown 20 minute drive from where I live was selling one but my mom would have seriously killed me. I kinda have regrets I kinda wish I just swapped it out with the mangavox console i already own...

Jon; There's a 6GE12A (Eye Tube)on Evilbay fairly cheap, 3-1/2 Andy Jacksons. Phosphors look good too. Then there's the guy who has a 6GE12 and wants 8 BIG BENS! What the Hell?!?!?!??!!?!? I know it's rare as dinosaur scat, but the seller must be insane. I can get a full set of Hen's teeth Cheaper!

Tony; Note the Eyetube. The 6GE12 and 12A were only made a year or 2 in Early 60's and had limited use. Fisher used the 12A in the 62 Futura. and the 12 in the 100R tuner. Once it goes out and there ain't no more original stock you're stuck.

First of all that is a nice looking console, congrats on your acquisition!!!

What's up with the tube on the Multiplex? did the pins snap or are they just bent?

Guess it was a marketing move to do something different than the bar type eye, ie: EM-80, EM-84 & EM-87. Only 2 FISHER units had the 6GE12 or 12A. The 100R and the 62 Futura.

Gif of the 6GE12A pattern.

When I picked up the console someone must have hit the tube. I simply straightened the pins and checked the tube. All is good with it. It was a Fisher brand 12AX7 made in Germany.

Larry, I immediately noticed the eye tube. I think this is the first Fisher I got with that eye tube. I had to put the console in the garage immediately because there is no room in the house at this time. The console hasn't been powered up yet. Normally before I power up any equipment I will at least clean the controls and tube sockets and inspect under the chassis. Maybe I'll just bring a variac into the garage and see what happens.

I did check ebay about the cost of the eye tube. Hopefully it is not bad. I did some research on the eye tube and I couldn't find anyway to test it with the various tube testers I own.

Hello, I recently got one of these consoles along with some other vintage tube gear that was left in storage for many years and forgotten. I live in South Florida and the climate isn't kind for stuff like this. The wood was full of mold and there was even some growing on the wires in the amplifier chassis. I salvaged what I could of the electronics and I'm interested in trying to get it working again.

I'm happy to see someone already started a relatively recent thread on this model because I would like to try and track down some good quality schematics. Every scan I have found so far is very poor quality so I am hoping someone else might come across this post who has better scans, especially of the preamp and tuner. I spent some time redrawing the power amp and would be happy to share it here if that's OK.

Hope to make some new friends here, learn and share whatever I can that is useful.

Thank you.
