1963 Fisher Futura IV Console

Greetings,

I came across a '63 Fisher Futura IV for sale in "good shape." Cab looks fine, preamp has all knobs and brights, TT looks as if it is missing the spindle; I'm waiting to find out about actual operations.

What's one of these old girls worth assuming basic (preamp and power amp) operation?

I sold a similar one (Italian Provincial) in great working condition for $400

And it was great to listen to. 7591 amp

Saw that one. If I was closer than a 4 hour drive and in the market for one of the nicest consoles around, I'd be all over it. Well worth asking price and I get the feeling there is room for negotiation after reading the ad.

I wouldn't be too concerned about overall operation as long as it powers up. It's going to need a recap anyway. That Garrard A probably needs a bit too but it is a good table, for that vintage.

Yes, so far no rely from seller... waiting. :)

Its a Garrard Type A. The spindles are removable to switch between multi and single play, and to remove records. It may be in there someplace. If not, it shouldn't be that difficult to source a replacement.

I like the cabinet style too. Its much cleaner looking than the French Provincial IMO. I like the more squared lines vs the swoopy ones that F.P. has.

Thanks, I didn't know that about the spindle. And I agree about the lines I prefer classic straight (often Modern) lines over the highly figured cabinets.

Very nice and the price is right. Also the size of this cabinet isn't overwhelming, so that's a good resale point should you decide to part with it down the road. Good luck.
