Just had these in the shop with a very competent tech and he gave these a clean bill of health.
Only thing he did were tests and replace the meter bulbs,1 was burnt out and wanted all 4 to match.
45 years old and everything is in or better then factory spec.
In fact it's a case of the factory under rating the amp. Factory says 60 x 2 watts @ 8 ohms.
It tests 83 x 2 watts @ 8 ohms and 129 x 2 watts @ 4 ohms...clean power without clipping. Just above these numbers is where it started to clip.
I've read this gear was HH Scotts attempt to break into the higher end market and it sounds fantastic!

I agree with HH Scott having quality products,I've always had very good experiences with their 70's products.
I am aware of their rich history and the tube products,I just don't have any experience with their tube stuff.
I have been trying to gather knowledge of tube stuff,sooner or later I would like to add a HH Scott tube set up to my collection.

The Alpha 6 has been my holy grail for a long time and my search for one has finally come to and end. Yesterday I finally got one! The condition is a little rough, it has a broken right level control pot and the button for the power switch is missing. I did take a peak inside and am very impressed with the build quality. Huge transformer, giant filter caps and everything seems to be layed out in easy to access order. Also it looks like mosfet output transistors?! Mine is supposed to work, but had been sitting for a number of years in a garage. I need to put together a dim bulb tester to power it up with. I am very excited to work on this and most importantly, listen to it. Now I need to find the matching alpha 1 preamp, but in the mean time I will use a random carver pre as its all I have at the moment.
I just hope parts are easier to source than the amp was..

After you get it sorted,I think you will be happy with it.

I bought a Scott 480a integrated (85 wpc) and a matching 570T tuner new at Musicraft in Oak Park, IL in 1978 and still have them. They are in mint all original condition with the owner's manual, warranty cards and original sales receipt, If I remember correctly I paid $780 for the pair, I ran a pair of ESS AMT 1's with them and I was in heaven! I haven't plugged them in for many years but plan on breaking them out sometime soon . . . the 50th year anniversary is coming quickly and plan on getting them up for that occasion. I have a pair of nice JBL L100's for them now.

I love to hear stories of long time ownership of gear and your story is better then most for me. So cool you have all the original paperwork and sales receipt.
I bet your Scott set up is going to sound great with those JBL L100's.
When you get your system out I would love to hear about it or see pics.
Your story involves Scott gear and Musicraft. I bought my first real receiver at the Musicraft in Homewood in 1980 and it was a Scott 355R,I still have it and it works great.
I lived across the state line in Indiana and Musicraft was a regular destination in Illinois for me to window shop.
Another cool thing about your story is the pic you found online is mine lol

For the past 15 years I have been living in apartment and condo, unable to utilize my stereo system (a mid 2000 Yamaha receiver + dvd player)
We just purchased our first house and took possession 1 week ago. In anticipation, I went out and found me a Technics SL-1300 turntable to add to my old system.

Well, after picking up the turntable. I thought It would be nice to have a 70's style amplifier to go with it... unknowingly, I just jumped feet first into vintage stereo system.
I did not want to pay the premium for name recognition, so Marantz and such were out of the question. I stumbled onto a Scott 480A Integrated Amplifier along with a T526, both in mint conditions. At, what I feel was a very fair price. I now have them hooked up to an also newly acquired pair of Klipsch KLF20's. The whole system sound fantastic, and bloody loud.

Now that I have a nice amplifier and tuner, I thought it would be really nice to have the matching cassette player. And finding a Scott tuner with the black VU meters instead of the white ones found on the 526, would be nice. Well, the stars have lined up for me. I have located a 671DM tape player and a 510TL tuner. I should have them in the coming weeks.

While it appears that mid 70's Scott units are not hugely popular. I am still surprised on how little information to be found on most units of that era. To me they are great. They blend a really sexy look with quality, at a fair price.

How deep does the rabbit hole goes???

Sorry I missed your post . . . that's too funny that I snagged a photo of your units of all things lol they look terrific. . . love the receiver also a buddy in Chicago had one, can't remember the model but it was a big one and had analog meters. I remember drooling over the Alpha 1 & 6 setup before getting the 480A/570T. Too cool that your collecting this gear, I never really found any 70's Scott SS gear on CL and thrifts years ago.

One of these days I'll get mine up but it will be a while possibly the 50th anniversary lol and I will be back here, cheers!

Very nice to hear you are happy with your Scott gear.
You got lucky stumbling into the 480A amp,I do think it was Scotts top of the line amp for the time frame and they don't really pop up to often.
Works out great since your into vinyl with your Technics tt. The 480A has an excellent phono stage with it's adjustable capacitance and impedance.
Your right about bloody loud,it's rated at 85 watts per channel and your Klipsch KLF 20's have a sensitivity rating of 100dB,I bet they make quite a dynamic duo!
It's a gorgeous amp and the tuner you found is a perfect match.
