Pouring a heavy dose of water into the left & right windshield cowl vents immediately produces a puddle of flowing water below the car on each side. I wonder if dumping the water cleared a blockage of outdoor tree debris, because the last prolonged rain soaked the passenger side floor pan before I checked for flow?
At the front bottom of the doors there's a small opening in the body that stays damp for a while, along with a thick felt-like pad that stays wet longer. It might be for noise/vibration reduction between engine compartment and firewall but why is it exposed to drain-water? Was it expected to dry with the air flow created when driving? It's weird a thick, sponge-like, felt material, would be exposed to normal water flow.
Both side openings stay damp but only the passenger side floor-pan occasionally gets wet. The '99 2-Door Gran Prix GT is still in great condition, with just over 50k miles, or I wouldn't consider repair or keeping it.
