Thanks to everyone who helped pick out the right table. After all
the discussion I didnt get the Thorens or the Linn. Instead I
picked up a Rega Planar 3 with RB300. Can't wait to get this
thing and get it hooked up. I think I'll be spending the rest of the
afternoon shopping for some vinyl.

Now, anyone know anything about the upgrade kit???:dunno:

Hi,

The upgrade kit is basically a new motor, supposedly with lower vibration. As I never had much of a problem with motor noise on my old Planar 3 I think it's of most use if you have a very old model with a poorly motor. I'd be suprised if it makes a huge difference but you never know...

I'd spend the money on a DIY OL weight kit, or a Heavyweight - I'm listening to one now and the bass and sense of tracking security is drastically improved.

BTW very good choice for a first (or last) deck :D

I agree with V.E., good choice!
I haven't tried the heavyweight mod but I did install a stainless steel RB300 counterweight and endstub on my RB250 and definately noticed an overall improvement. I also replaced the rubber feet with "tall" Tenderfeet cones. This cleaned up the mids and highs a bit.

You can sure mod the hell out of Regas. You can try an acryllic platter, add a VTA adjuster and/or rewire your tonearm too.
