2 Channel System / AVR Integration

I'm replacing my AVR and had the idea to add a switching device for speaker input.

Previously I had L/R front channel on pre out and ran those channels through my dedicated two channel amp/preamp. However that creates a lot of heat and needless energy usage in my small media room.

So I am considering a switch which would let me select feed coming from either an AVR or from a two channel amp. There are numerous devices such as this on the market at a reasonable cost, such as this:

Any thoughts appreciated

line level and speaker level are two different things. what do you want to select? speaker level or line level, and going to where?

thanks I have corrected my post. So to be clear I'm looking to be able to select the feed to the speakers from either the AVR or the 2 channel amp.
