2 Magnavox Stereo Consoles, same era, similar problem, one channel not working

Hello all,

I have a 1975 Magnavox Model PE6718-FR81. It has a R316-07 Radio Chassis and a A560-01 Amp Chassis. Whether I have selected Tape (8-track), Phono or Radio, I only get sound from one channel.

The other Magnavox Model 2P3463 End Table Model, around the same year as the above unit, one channel works when Phono is selected on the amp. Radio has full balance, right and left. Here are some pics of the unit in this thread - https://audiokarma.org/forums/index...model-2p3463-end-table-stereo-console.953255/

I would love to see if any of you have experienced this problem and/or a recommended steps to fix them.

clean the switchery (radio vs tape vs phono switch) and the 'fadery' - volume, tone, balance with D5 and F5 respectively.

THEN, consider looking at the amps and if it is cap coupled - replace that

If still no joy after doing the above….. they used electrolytics as coupling caps that do go bad. Solid State Magnavoxes I worked on needed these replaced. Might need other caps as stated but I would start at the inputs and replace the couplers.
