Yep ATX is a great town for record lovers, always has been, will likely continue to be.
I've spent half my life living there since I graduated from HS @ RHS,and there has always been a thriving subculture of record lovers in that town, sure they've lost some places that cater to record lovers thru the years, but those almost always get replaced by new places pretty quickly.
Matter of fact I sold all my vinyl (250+ LP's culled down from a high of 500+ at one point) in ATX after the house got struck by lightning and we had a fire back in '04.
All the album covers had smoke/water damage on the spines but the front/back covers themselves seemed ok,though I had no idea if the records were still any good as my TT was completely melted with the rest of my electronics. The real p!sser there is I had just gotten the TT back up to snuff to boot, man was I dejected over that deal.
Anyhow after the months it took to repair the damage I had those LP's out in our "fire sale" and I had sold a few LP's here/there when a guy came up and asked if I had any 80's/90's metal albums in there, and I laughed cuz that was like half of what I had @ that time,he took a quick look thru them and was totally stoked,so he made me an offer for all of them, and that was that, and I've been 100% digital ever since as all my CD's survived the fire (though the jewel cases and sleaves did'nt).
What reminded me of ^^^^ that ^^^^ is the Easy Rider soundtrack we see in the first clip, that was one of the LP's still in my collection back then.
Sigh,,,ah yes,,,the memories...
My brother and SIL still live there as well, and I have a few close friends there too.
Hope you enjoyed your visit.
