JesusChrysler

...drives a Dodge ; )
... I have not had a single cigarette... big whoop on you 30-year-guys but dammit a man's got to go cold turkey somewhere!

Been hard and no lie I want one and they smell good to me but.... I'm saving money and living longer....

and no offense to Anyone I applaud your efforts by any means but Screw all the "stop smoking" aids and whatnot...

I feel you have to want to quit first and then just Do It.... Why ya wanna chew gum w/nicotine is beyond me... An electric cigarette? uhh, no thanks I'll smoke a real one first...

Not calling out Anyone who used any such method to quit More Power To You!

But just to those who might be Thinking about it.... Nike baby: Just Do It!

Please realize this post is more a bolster to myself on continuing the quest... I'm not trying to call BS on other methods...

I just feel mine is the cheapest; most abrupt way!

Hey, I've saved $100!!!

Good on you!
With regards to quitting the habit/addiction, any way which works for you is good.
Two weeks will turn into two months and so on.

Watch out for triggers - excessive alcohol, coffee, soda pop, etc.
I found that since I stopped smoking my cola consumption has decreased by about 90%.

JesusChrysler, Your on it. Why stop anything if it is not for youself, food will start tasting better, a better sense of smell(and not just the good smells(sorry), and the drag for me is now kissing the wife (1/2 a pack a day still) is tough. What is hard is if you really stretch this out for a bunch of months and like any thing you quit, the first time you smoke will be a personal big bummer or let down, brush off and start over. Good luck.

I figure it's been 2 weeks so the physical addiction should be nearly gone...

Damn! I've been brave let me tell you I go outside once a shift for a "cigarette" break strictly because I feel like I have to leave the line SOMETIME on a 10-hour-shift.... Right? And the smokers are out there on their 7th little "break"... kind of eye-opening...

And I've let people smoke in my car as I have given them a ride home.... I do believe I'm strong enough to make it.

Congrats. I smoked for 25 years and quit cold turkey. I thought I was having a heart attack and that was enough of a reason to quit. Turned out it was just real bad heartburn, but it's been 3 years now.

Awesome! You can do it. Keep going. The first 2 weeks was the most difficult for me. I changed my routines and habits for the first two months: I quit drinking and going out, changed routine when I got home from work, etc. After 2 months I ventured to a blues bar and did not have the urge to smoke. The farther you go the easier it gets.

uhh, probably a 625-cfm-Edelbrock carb for my Dart avionic!!!!

but at the same time I'm having a pro amp repaired for duty on my Klipsches....

Amazing what else you can spend $200 a month on !!!!!

:)

Keep it up, Matt!

Your story reminds me of my TI at basic training. He quit a few months before I arrived at Lackland. He told us that he just stopped one day, even left a pack in his truck, I guess to just prove that he was a bad ass. :D

Your doing good, wish I could say you've got it made but that will be a ways down the road yet. If I could do it I know you can too.

Way to go, Matt! Keep all the positive aspects of quitting in front of you. It will help you fight those urges when they come from time to time.

Super duper congratulations!

Take it one day at a time, and before you know it, it will be years and years.
