2015 vs. 2215B......

Howdy, all. After a search, and a quick scan of thread titles, I didn't find a direct comparison of these two fine receivers.

Mine is the 2015, which is apparently the "rarer" of the two. Mine is a Value Village find, about two-three years ago. Never have opened it up, so no date reading yet. This little doll needs a relamp job, and not much else.... it sounds fine.

What I'm looking for is if anyone knows the "hard" differences between the 2015 and 2215B. The "B" is much more documented,of course. I'm looking at circuit differences- if the output circuits are significantly different, tranny diff. , etc. I know the "B" models featured improved tuner specs, and performance.

I really love this little guy, and my only other Marantz is a PM 500 DC int amp. It's pretty cool too, but not as classic as the 2015.

So, any answers out there? Many thanks.........willhowl:thmbsp::yes:

Here are some specs on the two.

The 2015 and the regular 2215 is the older and smaller (physical size) generation of Marantz. I beleive the 2215B is a sort of a transition size from the earlier models and the later 22XX receivers.

There is actually two version of the 2015. 4 and 5 buttons. I have the 5 button version but can't tell you at the moment what the heck the additional button is.

It is a very nice little receiver.

4 vs. 5....hmmmmmm

Thanks, onepixel.....I was hoping for more input on the actual circuit differences, though. Doesn't really matter, as you say, they are nice little receivers.

Didn't know about the button thing...4 vs. 5 ????? I don't know my button count....It's in my storeroom.... hope to get pix soon. It's a clean machine, fer sure,doods.....later,willhowl:thmbsp:

Willhowl,

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I'm not all the tech savvy. I might have the schematics though. I'll have to go look.

Buttons ....

Hello,

there are some variations of the Model 2015:

The earliest 4-button-version is: Tape Mon - Mono - Loudness - Muting, Selectorknob with "Tape" lettering, little screws at the faceplate, "Tuning" lettering above the gyro touch wheel, and some with black and some with black and red speaker connectors..

Than a little facelifting :D ..... : Tape 1 Mon - Mono - Loudness - Muting, Selectorknob with "Tape 2", also little screws and "Gyro-Touch-Tuning" above the wheel, and normally with black and red speaker connectors.

Marantz updated the 2015 (why don´t the called it 2015 B??): Hex Bolts, knobs with the black line on the round and the flat side, black and red speaker connectors.
5 buttons in two variations:
Dolby 25 us - Tape 1 Mon - Mono - Loudness - Muting
or
Tape 1 Mon - Mono - Muting - Loudness - Hi Filter

The last picture is my Model 2015 ... :thmbsp:

Wow...PEEKSURES.....

Awesome pix, henrie,thanks.

Also clears up a mystery posted above- the 5th button is the FM Dolby switch. Once the rage,in the late 70's early 80's, it's pretty much teats on the boar now...... However, the "B" series of Marantz receivers all had this function, I believe...part of the improved FM section of the "B" range....Right, why isn't this the 2015B???? We may never know.....

My 2015 is one of the first two variants depicted....I'm leaning toward the first...gotta hit my storeroom to be sure......later,willhowl:music:

2015

I found a scan of a catalogue. I don´t know the exact release date, but think it could be in 1974.
My 2015 is a good sounding receiver. And he has not the famous deep and warm sounding like the other models. But especially the midrange is really good.
