2105 Preamp Recommendations

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum & would like to get your thoughts on preamp recommendations for the 2105. I realize this has been covered extensively, but none of the previous threads addressed my situation.

I currently have a 2105 & MX113. I want to upgrade from the 113 to the MR74 (which I already have & prefer to the 113's on board tuner), and a better preamp. I had a C28 at one point, but had lots of problems (including vol control issues), so I moved it and ended up putting the 113 back in my system for the interim. I can pickup a real nice C33 for around $750, which is a good deal. Would the 33 be a good match for the 2105 and what other combinations using a newer preamp, are people using or have used, that mate well with the older 2105.

Either the C-33 or its older sister, C-32, would be excellent choices. I have a C-32 and really enjoy it.

i use a mx110 tube tuner preamp with that amp with very good result

I'll second the C32 preamp. I had a beloved 2105 that was paired with my currently used C32 and they sounded fantastic together. I use an MC2205 now but I miss the 2105. I love my C32. It's true quality and was a breakthrough piece of technology in it's day and it still stands as a great preamp.

I have used the C29, C32, MX110Z, MX112 with my MC2105.

Here is my order of preference (favorite first):
MX110Z
C32
C29
MX112

I'm using a C33 preamp with an MC250 - smaller brother of the MC2100/2105. They work great together. $750 for a nice C33 is a good deal!
