2230 - Ditching the Stock Preamp Jumpers

I finally got around to finishing up my 2230 recap/refurb, and noticed a considerable loss in detail when using the old stock jumpers vs a good quality interconnect. This model needs grounded RCA pre-out main-in connection vs just a simple U plug of bent copper/silver whatever you stick in there. I read a post on here about soldering some simple jumpers inside the unit, and that sounded like a much better idea since I don't use preamp out or main in ever. Reversible too. Of course, it's a pain in the ass to pull out the board with the jacks on it, with little room for any additional depth. Sounds better to my ears! Also less chance of accidents if I'm moving it around.

It is a simple enough fix, but those are beneficial for troubleshooting amp/preamp issues. I actually use those on my Harman Kardon 330A to pair it with a Adcom GFA-535 II amp, sounds great! If you ever plan to sell, you'd have to restore that back to original or make the next owner aware of it.

That's great! I'm not selling it, so I guess whoever gets it from my estate will just have to deal with it I agree, removable jumpers are definitely handy for troubleshooting. These are easy enough to unsolder and remove if necessary.
