2238 - preamp jumpers needed?

Bought my son a 2238. Seller said he tested the unit but pictures in his ad showed missing pre-out/main-in jumpers. So I finally get my son some speakers, we hook them up, and they play just fine - no jumpers. Is there something I don't know about the 2238? Or has someone bypassed the pre-out/main-in connectors?

Not all Marantz's used or needed the jumpers. They will have contacts inside of the Pre amp out / Amp In RCA jacks. They can and do go bad from time to time and then the jumpers are needed.(try cleaning first).....

also adding to what orets said, some of the marantz's had the internal jumpers.

but from the factory they were connected, but if you added a say eq, or a sound processer the internal jumpers were perminetly disconnected. if thats the case you can just use a set of short rca cables to fix that little problem.

btw, thats a nice little reciever also :thmbsp:

Thanks guys. My 2245 requires the jumpers so I guess I just assumed all of the old Marantz units needed them.
