2245 power switch and snubber

Hello everyone. I recently acquired a well used garage find marantz 2245 with a broken power switch knob. The new switch ordered came with a snubber capacitor but my old switch didn’t have snubber. I read up on this and seems some had them at the ac outlets I removed my bottom cover and I don’t see a snubber there or anywhere on the circuit. Is this common to not have one from the factory? Also should I install the new one provided with switch and of so across which pins? Thanks for your time, Drew

I think the 2245 snubbers were all switch mounted, and the switch has 3 wires. Here's an original 2245 switch, and the next picture shows how to wire a typical replacement switch when there are 3 wires.



It's important that you correctly identify your wire colors. In this example, the incoming AC lead is the brown wire. It might be different on your receiver. In this example, the incoming AC lead is bridged across the poles, providing power to both sides of the switch. One of the outgoing leads goes to the switched AC outlet,. the other goes to the fuse holder.

If you have a snubber with a separate resistor, let me know and I'll post a picture of one installed.

Thanks for the reply. Here is a photo of my new switch installed and wired the way the old one came out. There was no snubber on original switch and also not one back on the outlets either.
