Old thread, I know, but thought I'd share....
To confirm, I did not have this problem when I did the Sparkos install. I did not replace the original blue tantalum caps, so my experience supports what others are saying about the WIMA's being the cause.
I will also reiterate, the solder pads and traces on the PE-01 are very fragile. To make the removal of parts worse, many pieces have leads folded slightly out, directly against the board. Most likely when you bend those up to remove, you'll wreck the solder pad. I consider myself well versed in soldering and I also have a desoldering station, but I still wrecked four pads.
I came across the installation video below. The guy had a genius trick to use a thick/blunt dispersing needle to pry up the folded down leads and also to remove the old solder. (skip to 11:20 to see the process) His method worked perfectly every time and afterwards the old parts just fell out. I wish I'd found this video before I started. You can get a three-pack of those needles complete with syringes on Amazon for about $8.
