I am the new owner of a beautiful 2250b. I currently have a set up that I love where my integrated amp provides a speaker level signal to stereo speakers (speaker A) and a speaker level signal to my sub (speaker B). It also sends a line level to a separate power amp with its own volume control in an adjacent room - let's call it zone 2.
It is important to me (or rather to my family) that Zone 2 has a separate volume control. This is why I use the pre-out to power a zone 2 amp rather than speaker level wires directly to speakers.
I'm trying to replace my current integrated amp with the 2250b receiver.
I've been told that if I try to run an RCA connection from the pre-out on my 2250b to the zone 2 amp, that it will disconnect the 2250b speakers A and B and not send a signal to them. The thinking is that if I'm sending a signal through the pre-out to an external amp then the speakers must be connected to that amp and not the 2250b.
The workaround I've been given is to use a splitter to run the signal back into the 2250b "Main In". I'm having trouble understanding what that is or looks like.
Are we talking about a single channel (white/left) cable that is a "Y" where one branch runs to the zone 2 amp "left main in" and the other branch makes a U-turn and goes back into the 2250b "left main in"? And repeat this for the other channel (red /right)?
Can someone confirm this plan with maybe a link to what this splitter looks like... or advise me on how or if the 2250b can be used in this way?
Maybe I should use a tape monitor out to send a signal to the zone 2 amp?
