2252B Replacement faceplate?

Hey all,

While returning home from the shop today with my beloved 2252B (just received new lighting and a routine cleaning), the worst possible thing happened - a car in front of mine stopped short and the unit flew into the seatback in front of it. The top/bottom right corners of the faceplate are a bit bent in. The unit is otherwise perfect and was a gift from my dad 10+ years ago, so I'm looking to get it back to A+.

Unfortunately, I've only seen 2252 (non "B") replacement faceplates out there. Is there a source for these that I'm missing, or someone out there with a big repository of parts that I might try?

It folded up a bit of material on the top corner and rounded the bottom corner. Not a huge deal but really upsetting on this otherwise 100% unit. Would a WC-22 style case conceal some of this?

Its a totally different design.

imo, OP should just try and bend it back. Cover the corners with felt and try using some kind of clamp/pliers and sternly but... measuredly apply force to bend the plate back.

I mean, its what I would do.

I may go that route if I can’t find a spare from a parts unit. I was just about to get a repro wood case (was waiting to get it back from the shop today) and now I’m not sure if this will make look better or worse. At least it still sounds amazing with my L110s…

OP, just say it adds character.

Besides, you're just gonna wait for who knows how long for a 2252b plate or parts unit to come up for sale and still pay at least 1-2 hundred bucks (more if its a whole parts unit).

Very true! Also, prices for just about any Marantz receiver in nice cosmetic condition have skyrocketed over the last 5 years. You'll pay hundreds of dollars just to obtain a clean 2252B face plate...if you can ever find one! While it's very unfortunate about the accident, there's not much you can do, except enjoy the Marantz sound!
