2265b price?

local shop got in a 2265b which sounded great with some vintage demo speakers, they want 499. It's been cleaned up and working but not recapped, this a fair price ?
They've got a 2225 for 350 for comparison.
Price of the 2265b is right in line with what I was about to pay for a new Yamaha as501

I think it's about right. Pricing is difficult. I usually look at Ebay for comparisons, or just google the model number to see what pops up for recent pricing. There's one on Ebay right now for $599 that partially refurbished.
Offer about $50 - $75 less, see if there's any wiggle room.

thanks all, doesnt look like a bad price but i think 400-450 would be a little better. i may go back and offer 450 cash and see.
think id be happy with a vintage marantz over a new integrated.

That's fine for the 2265B. The 2225 I wouldn't touch for that money.

I agree with you Rentz. I would rather buy something that I feel is built more superior than today's models, and has stood the test of time being almost 40 years old, at the same price level. We're talking apples to apples in the price category, but you're getting a far better built unit. Plus, i'm biassed. I think that the Marantz are just so damn awesome looking, especially if you do the blue LED bulb replacements. Plus the values of the old Marantz keep climbing. The 2225 is nice as well, but i'd be in the $275 neighborhood for that unit.
