Hello;

My 2270 now has a problem with the dial pointer fm / am lamp.

After a complete change of all the fuse lamps, now the dial pointer has stoped working. The bulb tests good with a meter.

Where does it get its voltage from ?

something may have shorted when I was replacing the fuse lamp holder strip.....???

Thanks

It gets its voltage from the same place as the dial lamps - only it is routed through the selector switch so it goes on and off as FM/AM is selected.

If you look down to the chassis from the back of the dial fuse lamps and in front of the FM/AM housing, you will see a pair of terminals (brown fiber board with two metal terminals and wires soldered to them). One of the wires goes to the fuse lamps and the other one (white) goes to the selector switch. Check the voltage there and be sure it is 8VAC when the tuner is selected. The dial pointer wires go directly to it.

It's a likely possibility that the wire connection is broken where it used to attatch to the fuse lamps.

Yes that is most likely it, there is no voltage to the lamp, so I will check the wires,

Thank you sooo much!!!

A friend of mine who is currently working on my unilt wants to replace lights with LED in my 2270. He is unsure that I'll be happy because he said the effect is that the LED will be "spotty" instead of the blue light spreading across the dial. He asked me to find a solution and with pictures if possible and even where to purchase so he can order and get the unit finished for me.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks
