2285B Dolby Light and Pointer Light.

So 2 quick questions..

1. Should the Dolby Light turn on if I hit the 2 micro switches behind the dummy panel assuming I have selected FM? I don't have a module.

2. What's the trick to changing the pointer light to an LED? I have a 3mm polarized LED and can see the pointer carrier has little tabs that look like they need to be bent back to access the light. I've searched far and wide and all I find are examples for other models using the large style carrier. I've wrapped the dial string in aluminum foil to fend off solder drips, heat etc.

Any advice, pointers? (pun intended!)
Tks!

1. The dolby light will not turn on unless the module is installed. The micro switches only bypass the audio signal.

2. Not sure there are any tricks for the dial light. Replace the existing bulb with an LED and a series resistor.

Thanks willyrover... Do you have a value for the series resistor? Also do I need a resistor for the stereo light as well and what would it's value be.. Thanks again for the reply.

Shorting the two center pins together on the Dolby socket with a clip lead will cause the Dolby light to come on.
Try series resistors in the 470Ω to 2.7KΩ range to get the brightness that you need.
