22xx Wood Cases

MarantZappa

WOOD-GRAIN VINYL VENEER
I just took the WC-22 wood case off my mom's out-of-service (though nice to look at) 2275 and put it on my 2220B. It fit like a glove and looks fantastic, however, according to my research, the 2220B came with either the WC-22 case OR the WC-122 case. Does anyone know what the difference is between the -22 and -122? Is one "better" than the other?

WC-122: 3 piece case with no bottom wood.

WC-22: The typical case with wood all around. You have to insert the receiver from the front.

So when are you going to get your mom's 2275 up and running?! :scratch2:

And then get something "more modern" for her. :D

That wouldn't do me any good; the 2275 is too powerful for my small room! I might get it fixed as a present for her though. She appreciates quality audio, and I might be able to try it out on occasion... :scratch2: She has some beautiful Advent speakers from the late '70s to hook into it. By the way, she also has an old Concept 2.0 that she's very attached to, but as far as I can tell the Marantz is superior (not that the Concept isn't a quality unit... it is)

I bought a 2270 while back and I'm just now ready to take it to a tech to get it back into shape.
This might sound dumb but how do I get the case off? I was thinking I prop it up on it's back, unscrew the feet, set it back down and push it out from the back. Is there a correct way to do this? I don't want to do any harm.

The correct way to do it is just as you described. Just take your time and be gentle (so as not to scratch or damage the case, faceplate, etc...) and all will be fine. Make sure you use a screwdriver that fits the screw-head slots so you don't strip them, and don't over-tighten the screws then re-assembling things. Its easy!
