Hi Guys, I'm new here so I am just putting my first threads.
I put my Marantz 2385 on the bench with Aux and Phono L channel dead, but Tape 1 & 2 I/P's were working fine.
I found the trouble, but in the process, tracing these switches was a bit of a nightmare, I haven't been on the bench for 35 yrs, so I am very rusty.
The solution I found as to why, for anyone experiencing different behavior between Tape I/P's and the Aux Phono I/P's (or vice versa). In this case was in the "Buffer Amp" PH01 where AUX I/P signal runs through a separate section of the buffer amp compared to the Tape I/P signal, therefore Aux L was knocked out while Tape in had both R & L. it was 1 bad CAP CH05. on the L channel.
